NOSTALGIA
No matter how long you may be gone, your homeland will always be your homeland. I was reminded of this in a recent visit back to Wisconsin. It's a remarkable feeling to exit a plane and instantly feel a connection to a place no matter how long it has been since you've lived there. That's my feeling whenever I visit family there. And that's why I always love to go back, for any reason, and even in the dead of winter when it's 0 degrees outside. And when I visit, I always have my camera. And I always leave with my pictures. And I always have those pictures as reminders of my original home, the home of my family. That is nostalgia. That is an innate fondness for what was and how simply being in a place can provide me with a sense of calm even when the world around me is swirling out of control.
